This Cookie Policy explains how Unburden Today uses cookies and similar technologies. We keep this to a minimum.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in a similar way.
Cookies we use
Visitors: we do not set any cookies when you read stories, share a story or leave a comment.
Site administrators only: when a member of our team logs in to the admin dashboard, we set one essential cookie (named ut_admin) to keep them logged in. It is removed when they log out or close their browser.
We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or social media tracking cookies.
Local storage on your device
To make the site work smoothly, we save two small things in your own browser. They never leave your device and are not used to identify you:
- Stories you've supported — so the flower button remembers that you already sent a flower to a story.
- Stories you've viewed this visit — so a story's view count only goes up once per visit. This is cleared when you close the tab.
Third-party services
Our pages load fonts, icons and some images from trusted providers (such as Google Fonts and Cloudflare's cdnjs). These providers do not set cookies through our site, but they receive standard technical information (such as your internet address) when your browser downloads their files.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. The public site will keep working without them — you may just see the flower button reset. Blocking cookies will prevent logging in to the admin dashboard.
Changes to this policy
If we ever start using new cookies we will update this page first. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
